Various causes may be the basis for the development of diabetes. All of them in different ways lead to absolute or relative deficiency of insulin. Absolute lack of insulin means that its production, and thus the concentration in the blood are decreased.
The relative lack of insulin means that its production is sufficient even elevated, but there is little or no response of cells in its target organs.
